Hotels in La Digue Island

La Digue with an area of about 10 square kilometres, is the fourth largest island of Seychelles and perhaps the prettiest. The awesome scenic beauty from the 300 meter high Belle Vue in the middle of the island and the incredibly beautiful beaches especially Anse Source D’Artigen and the Grand Anse, tempt tourists from all over the world. There are more than twenty hotels and guest houses in La Digue to cater to the tourists.

La Digue does not have an airport but is connected to Victoria international airport at Mahe by ferry. Many hotels are located close to the ferry station. Those that are further away are reachable by taxi or the buggy service of the hotels. With few motorable roads, walking or riding a hired bicycle are the preferred modes of transport though an ox driven carriage is also an option.

The ocean waves are strong around La Digue making swimming hazardous while there are some spots for diving and snorkelling to see the amazing corals and under-water sea creatures. Beach-beds, sun-umbrellas and picnic baskets provided by the hotels on La Digue are the best way to enjoy the stunning seascapes. A hike through the Vueue Nature Reserve gives a glimpse of rare and endangered animals in their natural habitat. Quite a few birds and tortoises are endemic to La Digue.
